Export of Kenyan Soapstone Products
Kisii, Kenya

Based in Kisii (Nayanza, Kenya), we are a few minutes away from the only soapstone quarry in Kenya.

We deal directly with the soapstone carvers co-operative, ensuring that they receive a "fair-trade" price for their carvings and offering bonuses for best quality carvings and for meeting targets.

Kenanda-Steggall Exports was set up as a profit-making organisation, affiliated to the Nyanza branch of African Community Initiative Support [ACIS], a charitable organisation that supports community projects including the Mercy Gate Champion Children's Home in Kisii.

Kenanda-Steggall is a partnership of two:

  • Vincent Kenanda, not just a Kenyan but a Kisii, living in Kisii, a few minutes from the quarries where the raw soapstone is mined. As well as his business interests, Vincent is also a director of the Mercy Gate Champion Children's Home.
  • David Steggall, British, living in England, a director of ACIS that has as one of its projects, the support of the Mercy Gate Home as well as several ecological projects in Kenya.
